Streaming On Demand October 28 – November 15, 2024  |  Streaming Event Social Justice Shorts Streaming Performances for Schools

Event Description

Three short plays by Idris Goodwin, produced by Playhouse Square.

This bundled series showcases bite-sized performances with powerful lessons. Join us for a trio of 10-minute stories written by award-winning storyteller, poet and playwright Idris Goodwin. These video shorts and accompanying primer videos are crafted to support important conversations and increase civic dialogue in the classroom.

In Nothing Rhymes with Juneteenth, a father and son break down the origin of Juneteenth and why it is important to remember. ACT FREE follows three friends as they learn of their freedom and contemplate how to move forward, and The Water Gun Song highlights how a seemingly innocent playdate can have a disproportionately larger meaning for one family. When viewed together, this series of videos delivers powerful insight into the concepts of freedom and social awareness and follows a trajectory of meaning that directly links one to the next.

In lieu of a traditional resource guide, this virtual engagement includes primer materials to prepare teachers and students for sensitive topics presented. Content may not be appropriate for children under age 11.
