RESIDENT COMPANIES
Some of your favorite holiday traditions are back thanks to Playhouse Square’s resident companies. You can admire the *tree*-mendous display of holiday spirit at the Cleveland Play House’s “Festival of Trees” in the Allen Theatre lobby. And special this year, Cleveland Play House is partnering with Karamu House to present “Black Nativity” and Apollo’s Fire for “Wassail! An Irish-American Celebration.” Great Lakes Theater brings the classic tale “A Christmas Carol” to the Mimi Ohio Theatre, while the Cleveland Ballet dances through our hearts with its presentation of “The Nutcracker.”
DISTRICT ACTIVITIES
The festivities don’t stop at the Playhouse Square stages. You can extend your holiday celebrations by enjoying a meal or drink before a performance at one of our district venues like Republic, Cibréo, Bin 216 or Parnell’s. Restaurants like Hofbräuhaus will be hosting special holiday events including a Thanksgiving Eve party, an Ugly Christmas Sweater Party with Krampus, a St. Nicholas Brunch and Christmas Eve with the Hermit Orchestra. If you’re walking in a winter wonderland and need to warm up, you can grab a holiday drink at Starbucks or a sweet treat at Corbo’s. For those looking to make the season extra special with a staycation, the Crowne Plaza at Playhouse Square is just a few steps away from the theaters. And don’t forget to stop by our snow globe on U.S. Bank Plaza for the perfect holiday photo opp.
