With our 2023-2024 season of shows just around the corner, we decided to take a look back over the amazing season of Broadway we’ve been lucky to enjoy here at Playhouse Square so far. So many talented performers have graced our stage this season, and with so many homegrown stars. Here is our recap of some the local talent that has brought Broadway to The Land since we opened our 2022-23 season.
Addie Morales
She kicked off our season with a classic from the world of musical theater, bringing Webber’s LES MISÉRABLES back to Cleveland in October 2022, but did you know this "Cosette" is a Balwin Wallace (BW) graduate?

Megan Arseneau
She was a puuuurrrfect swing on this year’s CATS tour and as her playbill bio reads a “Proud Wright State grad. #neverraiderdown”.

Warren Egypt Franklin
A Cleveland native and BW graduate, Warren Egypt Franklin was home for the holidays, shining bright as "Lafayette/Jefferson" in the HAMILTON tour. Check him out singing the National Anthem at a Cavs game while he was in town!
Rory O’Malley
Another local talent bringing HAMILTON back to Playhouse Square was Cleveland’s own Rory O’Malley. An alum of St. Ignatius High School, Rory showcased his comedy chops in the hilarious role of "King George III" in the HAMILTON tour earlier this year.

Lee N. Price
BW was represented well this past season, with another alum bringing us the very best of Broadway to Playhouse Square. We were so happy to welcome Lee N. Price back to Cleveland in the ensemble of the first National Tour of BEETLEJUICE!

Hannah Whitley
Twinsburg-raised Hannah Whitley did us proud, leading the touring company of HADESTOWN when it made it’s Cleveland debut this past February. While in town she talked of her love for The Land and Playhouse Square in an interview with WKYC.
Nyla Watson
Alongside Hannah, BW alum and fellow Clevelander Nyla Watson dazzled us with her performance as one of the "Fates" in HADESTOWN. We got to know her a little better when she took us behind the scenes of the show with a Instagram Takeover!

Brandon Asazawa
In addition to the many talented musical theater performers, Cleveland can boast world-class Irish dancers also! Only just this past weekend, local Brandon Asazawa stepped on to the Playhouse Square stage with the legendary RIVERDANCE!
Marcus M. Martin
And last but not least, ALADDIN will open this week at Playhouse Square, bringing with it the incredibly talented Marcus M Martin, Akron local and BW graduate, in the iconic role of the "Genie!"
@marcusm_330
All of us at Playhouse Square are so very proud of the local talent working hard to bring Broadway back home and to venues across the country. Who will be making a homecoming next season? Stay tuned!
